Model yachts have been built and sailed in Peterhead since the middle of last century. At that time they were models of the local fishing boats “Fifie's”. It is known that these yachts were raced about the 1870's and that a model yacht club was formed about 1900. The present club was reformed in 1984.
If you would like to start a new hobby why not come along to the Pond on a sail day, and try this sport and we will supply you with a loan of one of the club boats to give you an idea of what it is like,
We sail two classes of boats Radio controlled one meter yachts.(see pic right) And we also sail Fifies which are made mostly by the club members and come in many colours and different types of wood and glass fibre (see pic Below)
